Awakening the Spine
Your Spine Is More Than Structure
We often think of the spine as a structural pillar — something solid that holds us upright. But in truth, the spine is so much more than bones and posture.
It’s alive. It breathes. It remembers.
If you’ve ever experienced stiffness in your back, tension in your neck, or a general feeling of compression throughout your body, you’re not alone. The modern lifestyle tends to pull us out of alignment — physically and emotionally.
And while discomfort may become familiar, it doesn’t have to be permanent.
Your Spine Tells a Story
Every vertebra, every curve, every breath you take — they’re all part of the unfolding narrative of your life. When we slow down and pay attention to our spinal movements, we begin to hear the subtle messages of the body. We soften patterns of holding. We create space for something new.
This is the heart of embodied spinal movement — not performance, but presence.
Not striving, but listening.

Three Gentle Truths for Spinal Well-Being:
Think in Directions, Not Just Positions
The spine isn’t meant to be held in one perfect posture. It wants to move — forward (flexion), backward (extension), side-to-side (lateral flexion), and in gentle spirals (rotation). These movements nourish your joints and nervous system, making space where there was once compression.
Breath is the Bridge
Before reaching for a stretch or adjusting your alignment, take a deep, spacious breath into the base of your spine. Breath can soften tight muscles, quiet the mind, and create a gentle sense of internal expansion.
Small Movements Can Create Big Shifts
You don’t need dramatic poses to experience change. Micro-movements — when paired with awareness and breath — can dissolve deep-seated tension and awaken fluidity in the spine.

Why I Teach This
Years ago, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a chronic spinal condition. I spent years navigating pain and limitation — until I discovered a more mindful, embodied way of moving. Over a decade later, I live pain-free, and it’s these gentle practices that helped me get there.
I teach this work because I know it works.
I teach it because it honors the body’s wisdom.
I teach it because your spine — your life — deserves space, breath, and care.
You’re Invited
This is not about being flexible. It’s about being present.
Not about doing more. It’s about doing less — with intention.
Whether you’re new to movement or have years of practice behind you, this space will meet you gently and generously.
Join us for a workshop that honors the wisdom of your spine.
With breath and reverence,
Julia
