The Pause That Deepens The Practice
There are moments when our body quietly whispers what our mind resists: It’s time to pause.
Not tomorrow. Not once everything is done. But now.
Before we hit burnout or find ourselves unraveling at the edges, there’s often a quiet window — a moment when our nervous system says, “Please, not one more thing.” And if we’re lucky, we hear it. If we’re brave, we listen.
I recently chose to listen.
Before leaving for a trip to Newfoundland, I felt that familiar tension of trying to “get it all done.” I had tasks unfinished, deadlines looming, and part of me wanted to push through just a little longer. But another part — the wiser part — said: It’s enough. Let it be. You can come back to it.
So I did.
Mindful Moment
I left without tying every loose end, and in that surrender, I found renewal.
Newfoundland offered me what my whole system had been craving: fresh coastal air, soul-cleansing hikes, picking wild blueberries along the trail, cold plunges into freshwater and saltwater alike, deep sleep, space away from screens, harvesting and tasting fresh kelp straight from the ocean and presence-filled time with my partner and his family. It refueled me in ways I didn’t even know I needed.
It reminded me of something essential:
The pause is not a break from the practice — it is the practice.
It’s in these moments that we replenish what output has emptied. We come back to ourselves. We remember we are not machines.
Mindful Motivation
So I offer this to you, wherever you are in your rhythm:
- Are you listening when your body asks for rest?
- Can you trust that the world — and your work — will still be there when you return?
- What would it mean to pause before the burnout?
This is the invitation of living with ease — not avoiding challenge, but learning how to stay attuned, to honour the rhythms of your inner life, to trust that the pause is not a step back but a deepening in. Your body will tell you when it’s time.
The practice is learning to listen.
If your body is calling for renewal — for space, movement, breath, and reconnection — I warmly invite you to join me for one (or both) of these upcoming offerings:

Spinal Awakening: Mobility through Embodied Movement – 2 Part Series
Tuesday August 12th – 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Tuesday August 19th – 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Do you experience spinal stiffness or tension? Long for greater spinal mobility and suppleness? This workshop is designed for those seeking to enhance their spinal health and alleviate chronic discomfort through mindful, gentle movements and deep breathwork.
In this workshop, we will focus on the four fundamental movements of the spine—flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and rotation—exploring them in various orientations.
By integrating breath, grounding, and spinal elongation, you’ll learn to release tension and bring more fluidity to your spine. This process will not only help you feel more mobile, but it will also create a sense of ease and balance in the body.
Feel the Freedom Friday: A Somatic Dance Experience
Friday August 15th – 7:00pm to 8:15pm
Step into a guided, 75min somatic dance experience designed to gently release physical tension, reduce stress, and reconnect you to your body’s natural rhythm.
Rooted in principles of somatic awareness and inspired by the freedom of ecstatic dance, this practice invites you to move without choreography or judgment – an invitation to move as you feel, not as you “should” – exploring breath, sensation, and spontaneous movement in a supportive space.
No fancy steps. No mirrors. Just you, the beat, and a room full of humans letting it all go.
This isn’t about dancing for anyone else — it’s about waking up stagnant energy, discovering a more easeful relationship with your body and remembering what it feels like to be deeply, joyfully alive in your own skin.
No dance background needed — just curiosity and an open heart.
Come as you are. Move how you need. Leave feeling lighter, grounded, and renewed.
With gentleness and gratitude,
Julia
